Approved Lexus Service History

By: Dominic Donaldson

Buying a used car can be a difficult task. You want something good - that will last you a long time - but you don't want to pay through the odds for something that will eventually turn out to be sub standard. Unfortunately, even when a car looks excellent on first inspection, there is no guarantee it will remain in good condition for the long term. For this reason, when buying a premium brand car such as a Lexus, service history is one of the first things you should check.

Manufacturers are increasingly taking steps to protect the reputation of their cars once out on the used market. This is no easy task. Once they pass on ownership it is not always easy to make sure the car meets the high standards they originally set. However, it makes sense for them to do this. If a car can gain a good reputation on the used market, then it can have a positive affect on vehicles bought as new.

This is one reason why we see options such as the Approved Lexus Service History. The luxury arm of Toyota has taken this option to give buyers of new cars that added bit of security and reassurance they might have if they were buying new from a main dealer. An approved Lexus used vehicle must have a service history that has been approved by the centre retailing the car. For this servicing must be completed by a specially Lexus qualified technician. All services must be within 1,000 miles either side of the scheduled mileage limit or within two months of the specified time period.

Any vehicle with an incomplete history can only qualify once the local centre completes the most recent major Lexus service. The centre will then update the book to provide you with a complete record.

The disadvantage of this is that the owner of the vehicle will probably want a higher price. However, it does give you peace of mind. If you're determined to go looking for a bargain price, then you inevitably do so at your own risk.

As such it would seem that the benefits of an approved Lexus service are clear for all concerned. For the manufacturer it helps them protect their reputation for bulletproof reliability and high levels of customer service. Meanwhile, you as the buyer get your hands on a vehicle that you can rest assured will give you goo service for a long time to come.
