NBA Jam Comeback on Nintendo Wii in 2010

By: Stacey Reid

Perhaps the most popular Nintendo game of all time will be making a comeback this year in 2010, NBA Jam. NBA Jam will be introduced to the Nintendo Wii game console and is sure to bring lots of excitement to old and new fans alike.

EA Sports announced in January 2010 that they will be revamping the infamous Nintendo video game NBA Jam and merging it with the Nintendo Wii. Every kid that has an old Nintendo game loved to play this game. It was full of creative dunks, layups, and who could forget when a player hit 3 consecutive baskets and got on fire. Well, EA Sports has plans in the works to reproduce this game and make it even more fun on the Wii. Here are some old features from the classic NBA Jam game.

Foul line Windmill Dunk

The classic NBA Jam basketball game was fun primarily because there was a lot of emphasis placed on dunking in that game. Dunking has always been a fascination of many. The old NBA Jam game would have certain NBA game characters dunking from the 3 point line doing a windmill dunk. It is left to our imagination to know how this particular dunk will be reanimated in the new NBA Jam game on the Wii.

Turbos

Every player in the old game had a turbo feature. The guards were obviously faster than the forwards and centers. This turbo feature allowed any player just enough boost to get by his defender to make a shot or a dunk.

Fouls

Another fun part of the classic NBA Jam game is the no foul rules. It was perfectly legal to foul and even knock down the defender. This made shot making more difficult and players depended on their turbo even more to get past their defenders.

On Fire Mode

The on fire mode is the most talked about and anticipated moment within the NBA Jam game. This feature activates when a player hits three consecutive baskets. It enables the player to literally shoot from anywhere on the court and make the shot, especially three point shots. The ball also turns into a bright flame. In order to put out the flame the opponent has to score.

Currently in preparation for the upcoming video game EA Sports is allowing fans to vote on the top 3 players from each NBA team. EA has setup an NBA Jams website where fans can go to submit their votes and also leave comments on why they chose their favorite players.
