Wayfair was founded in 2002 by Niraj Shah and Steve Conine. It began with just the two of them and one online shop selling TV mounts. A year later, they added three more Web-based stores focusing on furniture, lighting and cookware. In their third year, the business grew again and they added nine more highly focused stores. From that point onward, Wayfair grew fast to become the largest online retailer of home wares products in the USA. Headquartered in Boston, Wayfair also has businesses in the UK and Germany, employs over 1,000 people and exceeded US$500 million in sales in 2011.
